Matthew Burke Head Coach
Matt is Left Hook’s Head Coach. As well as being an England Boxing Level 2 qualified coach, he is also a REPs qualified Fitness Instructor, and a REPs qualified Personal Trainer. Matt has been involved in boxing for 30 years, having boxed as an amateur and a professional before he turned to coaching. He first laced up the gloves at the age of 7, although too young to compete as an amateur he still trained and had around 10 exhibition bouts(no decision) between the age of 8 and 11. Once old enough to compete as an amateur he went on to Box in many competitions. Winning 4 regional titles and 2 national titles, he also represented England on 6 occasions gaining vital experience boxing in England, N. Ireland, Denmark and Russia. Whether you are new to boxing or an experienced boxer, Matt will be able to suit your needs. If it’s your first time don’t panic, you will be given a quick crash course on the basics of boxing to make you feel more comfortable in class. If you’re an experienced boxer you will be given more advanced technical advice and assistance to suit. Matt started Left Hook’s Amateur team 3 years ago and is the teams Head Coach, in that time Matt has produced National and International Champions at both Development and Elite Level. Matt teaches the regular boxing class from Monday to Thursday and is at all Amateur sessions.

John Crossman Coach
John Crossman has been involved in boxing for 15 years. He also competed in kickboxing over a 10 year period. He achieved brown belt grading and was awarded kickboxer of the year in 2009. He joined Left hook as a coach in April 2017 and is a qualified England boxing coach.

Peter Broughton Coach
Peter has been regularly training at Left Hook since September 2012. He joined the coaching team at Left Hook ABC in 2015 and qualified as an England Boxing coach in December 2016. He is passionate about both coaching and training himself. There is rarely a day that you won't find Pete in the gym improving his own skills or helping others do the same.
